Instructions for finding functionality that has moved or changed in Simplebim 11
Features
Simple BIM 11.0 SR1 (26.6.2025)
- Delete objects tool for permanently deleting any selection of objects
- Generate location prisms along alignments (IFC4.3)
- Move objects along alignments (IFC4.3)
- Dynamic dataflow step names. Names of text and choice dataflow configuration items (not yet other types) can be used as variables in dataflow step names, for example: Add [Property Name] - property
Simple BIM 11.0 (14.5.2025)
- Dataflows for easier automated BIM data wrangling. The tools and Excel templates from older Simple BIM versions can be used as steps in the new dataflows
- New simplified start-up window
- New Trimmer Mode. Previously Simple BIM had a dedicated trimmer workspace for deciding which objects and properties are included. Now there is a universal Trimmer Mode and include/exclude decisions can be made in any workspace.
- New Home workspace (previously Trimmer workspace). In the Home workspace it is now possible to show only included objects in the 3D window (Trimmer Mode = Off) and in this case the 3D buckets used for trimming don’t waste screen real-estate.
- New tools for
- Adding properties
- Copying property values
- Adding and modifying groups
- Including/excluding objects and properties
- Setting and resetting the appearance of objects
- Moving objects to container
- Proximity
Enhancements
Simple BIM 11.0 SR1 (26.6.2025)
- Add or Modify Group - tool: Added alternative ways of defining query: object selection and property value
- Support added for opening IFC and native Simple BIM files by dragging&dropping them on the Open button in the startup screen.
- Support added for multiple items in the description of the IFC header
- Improved German and French localizations
- Show 2D Geometry -option added to 3D palette. If a model has a lot of 2D geometry the 3D window can get slow and hiding the 2D geometry helps. The 2D geometry is exported to IFC even if it is hidden in the 3D window.
- The Convert Objects -tool will no longer convert to object classes that don’t exist in the IFC version used by the current model.
- The Copy Property Values -tool can now take multiple source properties
- Option for defining the maximum number of polygons when calculating shadow areas added. This can help in performance when the model has objects with very complex geometry.
- Dataflow names have been clarified for: ‘Add Location Using Nearby Space’, ‘Add Basic Quantities’, ‘Add Location Prisms’, ‘Add Location Using Prisms (Optional Split)’, ‘Generate Child Groups by Geometry’ and ‘Generate Child Groups by Text Property’
- Direction for object search parameter added to ‘Add Location Using Nearby Space’ dataflow
Simple BIM 11.0 (14.5.2025)
- Streamlined ribbon menu
- IFC import options for showing the IFC GUID, the IFC line number and using the original IFC names for properties in the user interface
- User interface reloads reduced when running automation. This gives a better user experience.
Improved query user interface and logic.
The Splitter tool can now handle also 2D surfaces (previously only 3D solids), which is often needed in infrastructure models. - Open and Import of models is unified into one functionality
Most recently used files list now included also most recently used folders and most recently exported files. - 3D modelling is moved from the Location Editor workspace to the main ribbon and is accessible from all workspaces.
- IFC export supports exporting a subset of included objects, for example all included walls.
- IFC Merge: Improved support for IFC4.3 facility and facility part objects
- News moved to application footer
Fixes
Simple BIM 11.0 SR1 (26.6.2025)
- Bug fixed in merging multiple models in one operation (selecting multiple files for merge)
- Bug fixed in case sensitive comparisons in queries
- Bug fixed in applying a Excel template using the Apply Template tool when the file name of the template contains square brackets. Same applied to all tools that take a file name, for example merging IFC models.
- Bug fixed exporting values with the backslash character to IFC. Previously the backslash character was duplicated.
- Bug fixed in exporting geometry that was modified in Simplebim (subtract, union, intersect) into IFC
- Bug fixed in exporting properties (like edition date) of classification objects to IFC
- Bug fixed in exporting object colors to IFC when objects have multiple body representations and not all of them have a color defined
- Bug fixed in merging models that have a different unit for angle measures.
- Bug fixed that sometimes caused the OK and Cancel buttons to disappear when configuring tools and dataflows.
- Bimsheet protected against cases where the GlobalID property is included in the IFC import and used in a Bimsheet that adds the same property again as the last column.
- Bug fixed in exporting grids to IFC when the target for the export was ‘All’
- Bug fixed in using classification item groups as a target in tools and dataflows when the classification it was not a direct child of the classification system
- ‘Generate Child Groups by…’ dataflows fixed to work with all group categories (previously only Generic Group)
Simple BIM 11.0 (14.5.2025)
- Bug importing IfcVibrationIsolator objects fixed
